JProf. Mario Nadj's research group has published an innovative article in the journal Interacting with Computers titled "Paintings, Not Noise-The Role of Presentation Sequence in Labeling".
Labeling is crucial for the creation of training data for supervised machine learning. It also usually requires manual labor, is poorly rewarded and often bores the people involved. Although task variety is known to promote human autonomy and intrinsic motivation, there is little research in this regard. Against this background, we investigate the presentation sequence of a labeling task in an online experiment based on Self-Determination Theory to explain psychological work outcomes and work performance.
